Canadian patents - Does anyone have any personal experience or advice in obtaining one?

I have no information to give you about obtaining a Canadian patent. However, getting one here in the US can be quite a lengthy process. Usually, to start you have to write or call the US Patent Office and ask for literature about getting one. The entire process can take anywhere between 3 months to 3 years. There are constantly things being patented, over 3,000,000 items ayear. Secondly, it all depends on whether or not it has been patented already. If it has and the person who has it already finds out you have tried to patented it as well, you could face a hefty lawsuit. But, it never hurts to try. You can always research you object or item before you try for it to see whether or not it has already become registered. Through the office it will usually cost you a goo deal of money, depending on what you want patented too. Some people pay up to ten grand.Canadian patents - Does anyone have any personal experience or advice in obtaining one?
