Certified Personal Trainers: What is your best advice in starting out?

Did any of your start out with training friends or loved ones? Or right into a local gym? What is the best way to set up clientele in your opinion? What type of certifications (apart from education) would you consider the best ones?

Did you set up a website? What is the most efficient way of marketing yourselves, other than looking good?

Thank you!Certified Personal Trainers: What is your best advice in starting out?
My advice:

Get a reputable certification.

Get liability insurance.

Choose what route to go - club trainer, in-home trainer, open a studio, etc.

Choose a specialty or niche.

Study the business / marketing side of the personal training industry.

go for it
ACE certification. Start with yourself, if you show up to a gym and look like you are in shape, people will be prone to ask you questions, then you inform them you would be more than willing to help them get into shape by training them;)
